What do you do when you’re a freelancer, you’re the sole breadwinner in your household, but you become too ill to work? Savings only go so far, especially when someone in your household is disabled.
Shaz is a freelance writer who is known among the freelance community as a caring soul whose husband, Bob, suffered a stroke a few years ago, leaving him in a wheelchair and with limited capacity. Until then they were one of those healthy, active couples whose Facebook timelines have always been full of mountain hikes and martial arts, so Bob’s stroke has been particularly devastating to him emotionally, which has, in turn, been nearly unbearable for Shaz. She has somehow managed to earn a freelance income while caring for Bob full time with very little support. Now that she is sick, she is unable to do either until at least the end of January.
She has never asked for anything more than a lift from hospital to home, and is probably embarrassed by this, but we would be so grateful if you can join us in helping her with any of her living expenses for the next 6 weeks. Shaz has supported us when we have needed her and we want to give back to her so that she can stop worrying so much about the immediate future.
This page has been set up by Shaz's freelance colleagues; we know how worrying it is when you are unable to work freelance and earn income. Shaz has helped all of us, so now it's our turn to help her.
The money raised will cover Shaz and Bob's essential expenses such as groceries.
On behalf of Shaz and Bob, thank you for your generosity!
Thanks so much for the additional payment!
