    It was fantastic to see those who could make the unveiling on Saturday, nice to catch up and always great to meet other Glasnevin residents.

    Huge thank you to all of us for making this happen, loving the new sign!

  • OFFICIAL UNVEILING

    How great is it to have the new Glasnevin sign up and complete.

    As you will have seen, the sign is up, finished and paid for!

    We would love to see you at the unveiling on Saturday, 1 February, 11am.

    After the unveiling, a get together at the Papanui Club.

    Thanks again for helping make this happen.

    Thanks to your generosity this was possible.

    A couple of minor things SignBiz are sorting but it's so good to see it up finally.

  • Sign clean up

    Beautiful Sunday in Spring to clean up the area ready for our new Glasnevin sign. Thanks Kate, Stuart, Paul and Rosheen - awesome job!

    The funds should become available this week and we are in discussion with SignBiz.

    All going to plan we should see a new sign within a couple of weeks.

    Watch this space for the grand unveiling details, where we would love to see as many donors there as possible.

  • We did it!

    Thank you to everyone who donated we are so pleased to have raised the necessary funds and within a week - fantastic!

    A shout out to Kay and Malcolm Cameron (who live in our subdivision) and Harcourts Vision Bishopdale for their generous donation of $750.

    We are double checking on dates for the next steps but a rough time line looks like this:

    - Give a Little funds released late October

    - Sign replaced mid November

    - Celebration mid-late November, possibly at the Papanui Club being that it is walking distance.

    We hope to be able to confirm details and communicate via this forum (which is something I am also checking) soon.

    Wow we are so close!

    The response and encouragement received is fantastic, thank you.

    We will have to have a wee celebration when the sign is installed - it's been a long time coming.

  • Third of the way there

    It’s very heartening to know you also want a new sign - one third of the way to seeing this become reality 😁👍

    We have been asked if the council have been approached and the answer is many times!

    The latest response, received this week reads:

    Good morning Rosheen,

    You recently contacted Christchurch City Council requesting that the brass lettering that spells Glasnevin at the intersection of Glasnevin Drive and Sawyers Arms Road.

    These letters were installed by the developer when the subdivision was established, and were not required by Council. This means that they are not Council's responsibility to maintain them, so I am sorry we will not be replacing them.

    Maybe there would be a sufficient number of residents in your area who would be happy to contribute towards getting the letters replaced?

    I am sorry that this is not the response that you were looking for, but I trust that you understand the point of view.
