Fundraising to help Sam get the physiotherapy she needs so she can go home and raise her son.
Auckland
Stephanie Mills- Sam to us- is a former NZ triathlete who helped train Helen Clark to climb Mt Everest Base Camp, and is now facing her greatest challenge; to get home and raise her son.
After a stroke in 2022 took out her left-side mobility, at 54 Sam was hospitalised, unable to take care of herself independently, or her 12 year old son.
Ever optimistic, Sam is prepared to face this difficulty head on, and sees her current time in hospital as being like her chrysalis. When she emerges, she will be as a butterfly, strong and independent once again.
What she urgently needs now is an intensive physiotherapy program to get her back to where she can live independently. Already she has made huge improvements, and with a stick can walk 50 meters, with some limited mobility in her left fingers.
We are looking to raise $5,500, which will go directly to Sam’s physiotherapy bills, and any other associated medical costs.
Our end goal is to get Sam to a point where she can go home and raise her son with their 19 year old cat, Bubbles.
Any support is welcome, whether big or small, it all makes a difference.
Founded in 1994, the Healing Through Arts & Action trust utilises arts and sports disciplines as rehabilitation tools to empower and educate underprivileged and socially disadvantaged youth.
An intensive physio programme designed to get Sam to a point where she can live independently back home with her son and 19 year old cat, Bubbles. Any left over funds will go towards Sam's medical bills.
We made it! Thank you to all 1 May 2023
Hello to friends, family, and everyone who contributed to this campaign.
The fundraiser held last week was incredibly uplifting, and a joy to be a part of. Cheers to our wonderful volunteers who ran, walked, hopped and danced that 5k to support Stephanie.
Thank you so much for the generosity everyone has shown over the last few weeks. We are delighted not only to have reached our goal, but exceeded it!
This week marks the very start of Stephanie's physio program, which never could have happened without the love and dedication of all.
Thank you again, and we wish all the luck to the extraordinary Stephanie. We wish you nothing but success in the future.
