Fundraising for the repair of the Kaikōura half pipe skate ramp.
Kaikoura, Canterbury
Kaikōura Youth Council have handed the reins over to the Kaikōura Skatepark Committee in the upkeep of the wooden skate ramp at Gooches Beach. The Kaikōura Education Trust (Te Hā o Mātauranga) has agreed to support this project by becoming the fund holders for the committee. The Skatepark Committee is made up of local business owners, community members, and keen skaters, who have the passion and the know how to get this project back on its feet. The group are super keen to get the ramp fixed and up and running again for the community! It is going to cost roughly $4,000 to replace the old plywood with skatelite which will make the ramp useable again. Wayne from Kaikōura Surf has already pledged $1,000 towards these costs, the rest is up to you Kaikōura...
Our vision is that the Kaikōura Community has the skills and choices to live the life they want. Our mission is creating, promoting and encouraging inclusive and varied learning opportunities and environments in Kaikōura.
The initial funds will be put towards to repairs and maintenance of the wooden ramp situated at Gooch's beach. Other longterm goals include repairing the existing concrete skatepark, and looking at investing in a new community skatepark.
