New computers required for a revolutionary, community-driven social development program.

Southland

'Gore Corps' is a community driven social development program that has been established in Southland, Gore. It is a fully mobile operation that provides alternative social activities for children, teenagers and young adults of the Southland community. 'Gore Corps' provides 20 computers, all the necessary equipment and expertise required to set up multiplayer video game events anywhere, for all ages, at various locations around Southland. Participants then engage and interact with one another in the same room, on their own computer, playing a variety of different competitive and cooperative digital experiences.

'Gore Corps' drives a variety of community initiatives, such as combating depression, suicide awareness, eliminating social isolation, social exclusion, and active school bullying prevention with our after school programs. We provide holiday programs and a safe, welcoming place for children to engage and interact with one another in a digital environment, gaining confidence with computer skills while also making new friends. We also host weekend events for teenagers and young adults as an active incentive to combat under-aged drinking and drug abuse that many communities struggle with.

We wish to continue the growth of our operation and expand our services nation wide by incorporating the latest, popular games and maintaining the interests of our participants. Unfortunately, we are unable to do so unless we update our current laptops, which are 10 years old now, and are unable to run the latest, demanding games that we desperately need to remain relevant within the current gaming industry trends.

As we progress further north, each region of New Zealand will receive it's own 'Corps' and relative mascot to represent as their own!

We need your help to raise money so we can better equip ourselves with more modern hardware, so we can continue to modernize this desperately needed community service!

Use of funds

A computer capable of running the games we require will cost $1000 each. This will provide a single machine, that will be used by many children, teenagers and young adults as we continue our push north through New Zealand!
