'Grace' - A Chance To Evoke Positive Change

  • Christmas With Grace

      29 December 2023

We hope that you all had the most wonderful Christmas with your family and friends this year. This was our Second Christmas without Grace...but that did not mean that it was a "Christmas without Grace". We have come a long way with our healing journey and though there is a hole that will never be filled, we have now managed to find our way through the grief.

We have run our first group of healing sessions at Auckland University this year. MJ led this initiative with many students attending to seek new pathways to mindfulness with some Breath Work, meditation and Crystal Bowl Sound Healing. The Renew Clinic at the club will be officially open in 2024 and we have assembled some amazing healers and mindfulness practitioners to assist in this beautiful project.

From the seeds harvested last year from Grace's Sunflowers, I have grown hundreds this year, they have been gifts and out on display for many to see...the ones in the main picture were at the club and in full sight of Grace's old Dorm room and the Auckland University...so many people commented on how beautiful they were and how it made them smile...That's a beautiful thing.

We wish you all a healthy and love filled New Year ahead and we will continue to update this page along with the "With Grace" Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092392478456

We will continue to help people find peace and mindfulness and send you all our love and light for 2024 and beyond.

    The Kings.

  • Beautiful Humans and Grace's New Garden of Reflection

First of all we would like to thank you all for the many beautiful messages of love and support that you have given us over the last heartbreaking months. It is just so wonderful to know that so many beautiful humans out there care and loved Grace and what she stood for.

Our first stage of the wellness/mindfulness space is nearly open with the Daily Health Centre in Auckland opening soon. This will focus on Contrast therapy, stress relief, breathwork and meditation as its opening offering...with much more to come.

Also, Graces Family have now built and opened up the most beautiful reflection garden in honor of Grace. Part of her has been placed there to rest along with many of the sunflowers grown from seeds from her original garden flowers here in New Zealand. This next generation are already starting to flower...they are now spreading all over the world. I have attached a video of this garden and all are welcome to visit if you are ever in Kent (United Kingdom).

Special mention to the amazing efforts of Grafton Hall...your recent donations have humbled us again, as the out pouring of love has been felt and is just incredible...Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. xx

Until the next update...Love to all.

    xx

  • Mindfulness

      23 May 2023

Mindfulness is the practice of purposefully directing one's attention to the present moment with an attitude of curiosity, openness, and non-judgment. It involves cultivating an awareness of one's thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and surroundings, allowing them to arise and pass without getting caught up in them. By fully engaging in the present experience, without dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, mindfulness offers an opportunity to find a sense of calm, clarity, and acceptance. It empowers individuals to navigate life's challenges with greater resilience, foster self-understanding, and cultivate a deeper connection to oneself and the world around them.

Mindfulness has been shown to have numerous positive effects on mental health. Here are some ways in which mindfulness can contribute to mental well-being:

Stress reduction: Mindfulness practice helps individuals develop the ability to observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment. This non-reactive stance can reduce stress by interrupting automatic stress responses and providing a sense of control and calm in the face of challenging situations.

Emotional regulation: Mindfulness allows individuals to develop greater awareness of their emotions as they arise, which can lead to improved emotional regulation. By observing emotions without immediately reacting or being overwhelmed by them, individuals can respond to emotional experiences in a more skillful and balanced manner.

Anxiety and depression management: Mindfulness-based interventions have shown effectiveness in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. By cultivating present-moment awareness and acceptance, individuals can decrease rumination, break free from negative thought patterns, and develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves.

Increased self-awareness: Mindfulness practice fosters a deeper understanding of one's thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns. This self-awareness allows individuals to identify unhelpful or automatic reactions and make conscious choices aligned with their values and well-being.

Improved focus and concentration: Regular mindfulness practice can enhance attention and focus. By training the mind to stay present, individuals can become more engaged and attentive in various tasks, leading to increased productivity and efficiency.

Enhanced resilience: Mindfulness cultivates a mindset of acceptance, non-judgment, and self-compassion. This can contribute to greater resilience in the face of challenges, setbacks, or stressful situations. Individuals develop the ability to bounce back more quickly, adapt to change, and find inner strength and balance.

Better interpersonal relationships: Mindfulness promotes active listening, empathy, and non-reactivity, which can lead to improved communication and deeper connections in relationships. By being fully present with others, individuals can cultivate a greater understanding, compassion, and acceptance in their interactions.

It's important to note that while mindfulness can be beneficial for mental health, it is not a standalone solution for severe mental health conditions. If you are experiencing significant mental health challenges, it is important to seek professional help from a qualified mental health practitioner.

  • Mindfulness With Grace

      23 May 2023

    Dear Friends,

The Mindfulness journey has begun. Our Family in the UK hosted a wonderful workshop. Training the trainers on mental first aid. These are teachers that will ultimately give these skills and learnings to the next generation and be in a position to touch the lives of those young ones in need.

Just amazing and is only the start.

Check out the amazing Video of the event and official opening of the Grace Memorial Garden at Herons Park. There is Grace in this special place and a perfect space to practice mindfulness.

In the next update we will share some basic principles of mindfulness and how they can be practiced at any time in any place. To be in the present is a gift as it nourishes the soul and enriches our lives...this is our main goal to give this gift to as many as possible...and perhaps to be more present ourselves.

Remember, mindfulness and being present is a marathon, not a sprint.

    With Grace,

    The Kings.

  • 21st Birthday Update

      21 May 2023

It was Grace's 21st Birthday today. It was surreal to not have her present here with us for it, but we celebrated it nevertheless.

Grace has already started to influence and touch people all over the world with random acts of kindness. Her sunflower seeds are now germinating new life in many different countries, special mindfulness days and training is being held in the UK and a new therapeutics and wellness clinic is soon to open in New Zealand that will house the mindfulness centre....this is just the beginning.

It has been a tough road to follow over that last few months, but her signs are strong and the commitment to helping others in need has lightened the heavy burden with its purity of purpose.

Her family in the UK have created a beautiful memorial garden at Herons Park for all to enjoy. It will feature sunflowers from her very first garden (the seeds so thoughtfully given to us at her service). If ever you feel the need for contemplation then please visit this amazing space...part of her rests there as it was her first home. Check out the amazing video "sneaky peek" of the memorial garden at Herons Park in the clip attached:

In the next updates we will update more on the progress of the amazing efforts being carried out in her name in the UK, USA and New Zealand...There will be more Countries to add to that list soon no doubt.

For now...hug the ones closest to you and tell them you love them, everybody needs to hear that.

Happy Birthday our "Beau" Grace Ann King on her 21st Birthday, she continues to influence the world for good and amaze us all in her eternal influence.

  • Sunflowers and Update

Dear Family, Friends and loved ones,

It has been a while since I have posted any updates and I just wanted to thank all that have given so generously and let you know how we all are doing.

Life has changed that is for sure. There is an emptiness in our home and our hearts that we now realize will never be filled. Grief is a hard emotion to overcome and I personally have been trying to find ways to overcome the grief and enter back into gratitude. The sadness will be everlasting, this I know. But Grief...well that is a different animal, it takes your insides and mindset and throws it against the wall. It renders you immobile both emotionally and physically. I have likened this to a shell. Imagine the ying and yang of joy and sadness...they are needed in life and most of us manage these opposing emotions in our everyday. But Grief, well that is the shell that surrounds the ying and yang, rendering the feelings of joy and sadness to be incased in an impenetrable shell. Some would say it is a numbness or emptiness...like nothing matters.

What I am here to tell you is that it does matter. Grace Matters! What she stood for matters and this is everlasting. We all need to focus more on G.E.M - Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness.

    Gratitude:

We are grateful for the 20 amazing years that we got to spend with the incredible human that was/is Grace Ann King. We are Grateful for all the joy she brought into our family and the wider communities that she touched.

    Empathy:

We are empathetic to her struggles and how the darkness of the world took hold of her and led her to the dark place that resulted in the loss.

    Mindfullness:

We are mindful that mental health is an epidemic of our time and only at an individual level can this be overcome.

With these three guiding principles of G.E.M. We will make a difference in this world and hopefully impact others positively to help save lives through the selfless act of kindness, care and action.

We have been recovering over the last few months and the support we have received from Family, Friends and those that care has been overwhelming...but incredibly beautiful. It shows that there is more kindness and care in this world than you could ever imagine.

After Grace transcended we used her energy and decided to dedicate areas of our garden to her favorite flower...The Sunflower. Taking the seeds that were generously given to us at her service we have grown 3 full gardens of beautiful, strong and amazing plants. I could go on for hours on how amazing and transformative this process has been. From taking them from seeds to seedlings and nurturing them into full bloom and now to harvesting their seeds of future life and love. It has been a healing and meditative process, offering time for reflection, contemplation, gratitude, mindfulness and often full blown discussions with the essence of Grace (Thank you).

To all that have donated we wish to give you a gift. A gift of hope, love and life. As we are now harvesting the seeds from all of the flowers we wish to send some, to all those that have donated and care to make a difference. This will give you a chance of raising your own Graceful flowers and repeating this cycle year after year...it is not hard, it just takes the mindfulness to do it and some nurture to maintain...perhaps the perfect start on the mindfulness journey for many?

Please reach out and provide your details to us so we can send you some seeds. Treat these like the essence of Grace and enjoy the process of care that it will take to grow them into stunning and graceful flowers...it is so rewarding and just what Grace herself would absolutly love.

I have included some images below and what I have written here, is just a snippet of the observations, miracles and joy that i witnessed in the process of transferring grief into purpose, shattering the shell and finding that there is so much Joy to be had if you care to look past the personal sadness.

We will always have sadness, but we also now see the joy and love that Grace brought to the world with a clarity that was not possible before. We will continue to focus on ways to share this with others. Work on the mindfulness center is ongoing and we have started the journey to assist others find their way out of darkness and into the light...more will follow on this in the next blog.

For now: Thank You. Thank you all for caring, thank you all for supporting and most importantly thank you all for loving Grace and showing us the impact that our little shy girl had on so many...Just Thank You!

Enjoy the images of the sunflowers (I have hundreds now of every stage). Just a few below to get you started and focused on the wonderful world that you live in where even in our darkest moments and simple sunflower can evoke the joys of living and being present in life.

To let us know the address to send the seeds to please send to kings@withgrace.org.nz .

    All our Love,

    The King Family.
