Funds for wages: nursery manager. Our nursery manager means our trees stay happy and community planting projects are supported.
Gisborne
The Womens Native Tree Project Trust is a group of volunteers who come together to provide free, locally-sourced native plants for public spaces within Turanganui / Gisborne and the wider Te Tai Rawhiti / East Coast. We grow trees from seed, raise them at our nursery, donate them to community groups such as schools and marae; and we take care of several planted reserves around the district.
The Trust has been working hard over the 20 years to preserve and protect remnant bush and plant local reserves, riparian strips, wetlands and coastal margins with native flora. The big picture is to 'green' Te Tairawhiti with appropriate, sustainable local species and to engage with other community groups to restore the health of our back yard.
We are seeking money to pay our nursery manager for her time: not only the hands-on, regular care of young trees at the nursery, but also her liaison with community requests for gifted trees and planting support. This is a one-off request for funds to help us until the next community funding round.
The funds will pay the wages of our nursery manager until we can access the next community funding round.
