Kia Ora tīma! If you have the means, please donate to my half marathon fundraiser in honour of Zak Muise, a perfect soul taken way too soon.
Wellington
This will be my second year running the Gazley Wellington half marathon. I did my first half marathon last year in honour of Zak Muise, a close friend I lost in 2023 while he was working as a wildfire firefighter in BC. Since he passed, I’ve been trying to find ways to honour his name and true selflessness. One thing he loved to do was exercise and move his body and a half marathon was something he accomplished and checked off of his bucket list.
If you never met him, Zak was a pretty legendary individual that put a smile on everyone’s face he came across. Someone everyone admired and loved even to this day. If you have spare change lying around, all the money I raise this year will be going to NZ Firefighters Welfare Society. This organisation is run by firefighters to help the wellbeing of firefighters, their families, and their overall well-being.
With the motto, “Firefighters helping firefighters and their families”, awhi atu awhi mai ō rātou whānau., I thought it was the perfect organisation to donate my proceeds to.
Ngā mihi nui! Thank you so much!
I wanted to find an Aotearoa based organisation focused on firefighters and their well-being. Through my research, this organisation will utilise the funds greatly with amazing resources.
The funds I raise will go to NZ Firefighters Welfare Society which has supports put in place for firefighters and their families. This includes supports for healthcare needs, discounts from major NZ retailers, and many other resources.
