This project ensures that Waikato families can continue to enjoy the Christmas tree and lights well into the future.
Hamilton, Waikato
At 27 metres tall to the tip of the star, the Hamilton Christmas tree is over 6 stories high and has the claim to fame as New Zealand's largest Christmas tree. Located in the centre of Hamilton at Garden Place annually from the end of November through to New Years, the tree lights up the city and the faces of those who see it each year. Thousands of people come from around the region to Hamilton at Christmas to see the tree and watch the nightly show of lights at 9pm.
However, the tree is now over 15 years old and is need of a new frame. Hamilton Christmas Charitable Trust is appealing for support to keep the tree shining brightly in Garden Place once again in 2025. The trust is looking to work with local fabricators to recreate the frame rather than source a new one from overseas.
As a charitable trust, we raise money each year to ensure free events are held for the children and families of our city and region. The trust can only do this through generous sponsorships, grant funding, donations and fundraising. Helping with a donation toward this project ensures that families can enjoy the good things about Christmas at no cost well into the future.
Hamilton Christmas Charitable Trust was established to promote the theme of Christmas for the benefit of the people of Hamilton and its surrounding districts through entertainment and enjoyment, with particular emphasis on entertainment for children.
Replacement of the frame that holds the 27m high Christmas tree. Any additional funds raised will be used toward replacing some of the tree branches and upgrading the lighting software.
Update 11 December 2024
