Hamilton Operatic Society
We need the community now more than ever to help maintain one of Hamilton’s most enduring Performing Arts societies.Waikato
The closure of Founders Theatre in 2016 hit us hard! Since then, we have been left struggling to put on our regular, ‘blockbuster’ productions that break even in a smaller venue.
Without a “home” of its own, Hamilton Operatic Society incurs many costs to support our theatre productions e.g. rehearsal space, set and costume hire and storage. As a not-for-profit organisation, we are reliant on volunteers, grants, ticket sales and the generosity of the community and local businesses.
We want to remain strong, viable, here for the community, active, professional and everything else that’s positive and absolutely compulsory for a city to have. Without this financial assistance Hamilton Operatic Society cannot give you the musicals it is renowned for.
MORE ABOUT US
With a history dating back over 100 years, we are proud of our roots and traditions but not afraid to push boundaries to make sure we stay relevant and continue to captivate our audiences, both young and old.
We have cemented our role as one of the most successful and professional musical theatre groups in New Zealand.
From the onstage performers to our creative leaders and technical experts, we are an organisation that values and nurtures our talent and diverse skill sets. We do this in myriad ways, sometimes partnering with local high schools, offering a variety of workshops and regularly producing theatre for youth and led by youth.
Use of funds
Your generous donations will give us operational support and help us stay in ‘the black’ so we can continue to bring you fantastic musical theatre productions like Wicked, Jersey Boys, Matilda to name a few.
