Help get Hamish to take down Molokai!
Auckland
On the 28th of July I will be competing in a 52Km Prone/knee board race in Hawaii. The race starts at the Island of Molokai and finishes across the channel at Oahu.
For the past 3 months I have been training my guts out alongside Daniel Cairns, training 4 mornings a week and 4 evenings and then another long distance paddle on saturday mornings. In between the sessions I work full time as a building apprentice on 9 hour days, this means we usually get on the water to start our 90min paddles in darkness.
The race itself is one of the most difficult channel crossings in the world. I am attempting to do it on the smaller board of 12ft which will be at the mercy of currents and swell. I am hoping to finish the race in under 6 hours.
This page is for anyone who is willing to give me a helping hand no matter how little I would greatly appreciate it and no doubt pay it back in one way or another in the future.
The fundraising is to cover the costs of, accommodation, board hire, escort boats and flights. Any surplus donations will be funded back into the Red Beach SLSC which has supported me through my journey.
