Handheld Ultrasound needed to run POCUS training in Tongan Emergency Department

$3,390 of $5,343 goal
Given by 35 generous donors in 6 weeks

Donate to enable Tongan Emergency Doctors to use ultrasound at the bedside of their patients.

International

PEARLS (POCUS for Emergency and Acute Care in Resource Limited Settings) are a volunteer group of Emergency Department (ED) doctors and sonographers who are working to take Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) training to resource limited settings.

At the beginning of May 2023 four ED doctors and a sonographer from New Zealand will travel to Tonga to teach ED doctors POCUS. This skill will allow them to make quicker patient decisions at the bedside in a resource limited healthcare setting where medical imaging can be limited.

We need funding for handheld ultrasound systems to take with us and leave with the Tongan doctors. The Butterfly iQ Ultrasound System provides all the function they will need at a low cost with the added benefit of a cloud image archiving system. This archiving system allows the New Zealand doctors and sonographer to continue to support the Tongan doctors with image review and education after we leave.

About us

EMUGs is a not-for-profit, special interest group focused on progressing POCUS in Emergency Medicine. EMUGs is a collaborative learning network for all POCUS users including FACEMs, Trainees, Sonographers and all Emergency Service Providers.
