My godson, 13 year old Shayden Albert Turipa-Hook was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma or Cancer, 17 October 2016. This shy, quiet boy developed a growth on the side of his neck and then had trouble walking (all within a few weeks), after a scan it was identified he had another growth on his spine. Since then, he has had an operation and has commenced Chemo. Shaydens mum, Nikki and his nan, Therese have been with him the whole way through. Shayden is currently in Starship Hospital undergoing his treatment and will be there for a while yet. In order for Nikki and Therese to be able to tend to Shayden needs, medically, physically and emotionally here in Auckland, I am asking on behalf of the whanau for your support and possible monetary contribution to this Givealittle fund.
Any contribution, no matter how small will be received with love and gratitude.
Any funds raised will be to help support the whanau care for Shayden... Supporting the whanau who remain back in Wairoa while Nikki and Therese are here in Auckland with Shayden. Giving him the medical treatment he needs and mainly getting him to and from treatments in either Gisborne or Hastings once he is allowed to go home to Wairoa.
He is a strong dude.... with his equally strong mum and nan by his side... they will get through this together but your help and awhi, will make it a little easier for them. Aroha tino nui.
Nikki has asked me to update you all on shaydens journey to shed so easy light on his road to recovery.
I'm involved as I was asked by Shaydens mum, my best friend and friend since kohanga, Nikki for assistance and support. Shayden is my nephew and godson. I care deeply for this family and will support them as much as I can.
