A community space where people of all ages grow food, connect, and support each other, including at-risk youth finding hope and belonging.
Jacks Point, Otago
Planting Hope, Growing Community.
Welcome to the Hanley's Farm Community Garden—where hope, connection, and sustainability grow side by side. Since opening on May 25, 2024, over 150 members—from toddlers to gardeners in their 70s—have come together to grow food, build friendships, and create a sense of belonging.
We’ve harvested broccoli, cauliflower, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, potatoes, garlic, watermelon, strawberries, and more. The aptly named Yummy UFOs were a big hit! Our 30 heritage fruit trees are now bearing fruit. Produce is shared locally, with surplus supporting Queenstown services like Happiness House and Baskets of Blessings, reaching the wider community.
The garden also serves as a hands-on classroom for local primary schools, workshops, and at-risk youth groups, teaching sustainability and environmental care.
We’ve been able to produce a thriving garden so far with generous donations from our local Mitre10 and Bunnings stores. We’ve come a long way—but to continue growing, we need your support.
Your donation will help fund:
*Seeds and seedlings
*Compost and fertilizer
*Essential tools and equipment
Our future goals include:
*Workshops on gardening and sustainable living
*A Kai pantry for families in need
*A seed bank to support local growers
Every donation helps us nourish people, the land, and our community. Let’s build something beautiful—together.
Please donate today and help Hanley's Farm Community Garden reach its full potential.
