Hannah Jones (Hannah Bunny to her friends and family) is a vibrant, beautiful, and gorgeous 10 year old who was dealt an unexpected blow at the start of Dec 2016 when she was diagnosed with a rare type of B cell Non Hodgkin's lymphoma. Its official name is Primary Mediastinal B-Cell Lymphoma but Hannah has named it Trump, or Donald J Lump.
Everyone who knows Hannah knows what a totally awesome kid she really is! This version of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma that Hannah has normally occurs in women in their 30s and accounts for less then 3% of all lymphomas. Cancer is not fair and this isn't fair on Hannah. Yet, every picture I have seen of Hannah since the diagnosis, she is sporting her gorgeous smile! It's a testament to the amazing, loving family she is a part of.
Just a couple of days ago, Hannah opted to have her beautiful long hair cut before the effects of the chemo start to show themselves. She has some pretty cool pink & purple stripes going on there at the moment!
Hannah is from Dunedin but the family (Mum, Dad, and little bro) are now all living in Ronald McDonald House in Christchurch, whilst Hannah undergoes months of treatment in the children's oncology ward at Christchurch Hospital - she is in awesome hands!
Lea and Grant are such unbelievable parents and their strength will get their family through this. They have a fantastic support network of family and close friends and have many a shoulder to lean on.
However, unfortunately they will be away from their jobs for a long time and, as we all know, the bills keep rolling in. Financial support is what they need now so their primary focus can be on their gorgeous Hannah Bunny and getting her through this.
I will continue to update the page so that those who have donated know they are not forgotten and will be able to keep up to date with Hannah's treatment and recovery.
I am involved because I have known the family for a long time. So many of their friends feel helpless and want to be able to do something that will help, even in a small way. Remember the old adage we learnt when growing up - every cent counts. And it does! No donation is too small.
60 beads of courage 12 December 2016
This amazing girl has "earned" 60 beads of courage in the short time since she was diagnosed ... and still she smiles. Thank you so so much for all your wonderful donations. You have no idea how much they are easing the burden for Hannah's family. Now they can concentrate on kicking that big Donald J. Lump in the butt!
