  • It's a Wrap!

I've had an amazing 3 months training and competing in Switzerland and Italy, and am so stoked with my progression and results. I did my last update from Laax, which was super fun to return to after the Junior Worlds. I had a Europa Cup competition there which had 90 competitors in the open men's division, and was a really competitive field. I was stoked to finish 9th in my heat, although just missed out on the finals by one place. It was the top kiwi result so I was pretty stoked. After Laax we headed to Livigno in Italy, which is the host resort of the next 2026 Winter Olympics, so it was awesome to get some training time in there. I loved the jumps they had there, which were perfect for working on some of my new tricks and refining some of my other ones.

Even though I was sad to leave Italy (and the awesome cheap pizza!), it was great to get home to NZ and see family and friends after a long time away!

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone for your support. I know this trip wouldn't have been possible without all of you, and your generous donations. I really couldn't be happier with how the trip went, and my results, and I was really stoked that Mum was able to make it over there for the last few weeks and was there to watch and support me at the Junior Worlds.

I'm looking forward to the NZ season and then hopefully doing this all again next year! Thank you so much again, and hope you're all doing well and had a great summer!

What an awesome week in Leysin competing in the Junior Worlds! It was such a cool experience and I was so stoked with my results. There was a really high level of competition there with some skiers coming straight from the Beijing Winter Olympics. I was absolutely stoked to place 5th in Slopestyle finals, and to be the top finishing kiwi. The whole week was awesome, and I could feel that all my training over the past couple of months had really helped with my progression. We are now back in Laax for 12 days, then we head to Livigno in Italy for our last 3 weeks of training. Thanks SO much for everyone's support back home and to all of you who stayed up late to watch the finals! And also a big thanks to my coaches Kerr & Hamish for all their training and input. Harper:)

Harper competed at a Big Air competition over the weekend in Davos, Switzerland (photo of him below). Unfortunately, due to variable jump conditions and several serious injuries that required heli-evacuation the competition was canceled midway through. A bit of a bleak reminder about the extreme nature of the sport, however we are grateful to still have Harper and his teammates all in one piece!

  • Update from Switzerland!

      31 January 2022

Grüezi from Switzerland! I arrived here (after a very long trip!) 10 days ago. We got straight into training - we were on snow from the first day here, and have only had a couple days off since arriving. The snow has been awesome, and the park is the best I've ever ridden...it is so good! I've been working really hard on getting my legs back after a few months off snow, and am stoked to have already been doing some 1400s and dubs.

It was pretty hard saying goodbye to Mum and Dad, and my brother and sisters, and it really hit home when I left how much effort everyone has put into helping me get here. At the moment we don't have MIQ places to come back, so I'm not sure how long I'm away for, but Mum and everyone back home is trying hard to see if we can get MIQ spaces for the team in April.

I have my first FIS competition this weekend in Grindelwald which is a Big Air, and I'm really looking forward to it. It will be my first international Big Air comp overseas.

Thanks so much to you all for your support - I wouldn't be here without it. I hope you're enjoying your summer back home...I'm off to check out the foot of fresh pow that fell last night...I'll do some turns for you!

    Harper:)

Just a quick update to wish everyone a Happy New Year and say thank you again to all of you who have so kindly contributed to Harper's campaign. We are very close to reaching his goal, thanks to some grants received and his fundraising event before Christmas...and of course all of your generous donations! Harper is currently in self-isolation, as he is due to fly out in just 10 days time...and as you can imagine he is super excited!

We wish you all the very best for 2022, and are so grateful for your support and generosity.
