Raising money for the little McSweeney family who have spent the last 5 months in hospital!
Canterbury
PLEASE READ THE UPDATE TO THIS POST UNDER UPDATE TAB. We need you all to know how much of an impact you have had with your kind words and generosity.
Amber, born at 23 weeks gestation on Christmas Eve 2015 and Daniel born on Christmas Day 2015 have had a long road and beaten the odds when no one thought they could. An infection in mums placenta caused Amber to kick up a fuss and decide she wanted out!! And after a few days of waiting and worrying, steroids and medication to stop contractions, these two little miracles entered in to this world weighing 725 and 750grams (1lb 6oz). These two were given a 27% survival rate and have spent the last 5months practising being out of the womb. It has been a scary ride, they have had multiple blood transfusions, infections, brain bleeds, resuscitations, lumbar punctures, bladder punctures, you name it! They have come out the other side every time stronger than they were before and are now getting closer to going home as happy healthy babies. These babies are Canterbury babies born in Wellington. When mum went in to labour here was no room in chch NICU so they were flown up to Wellington where they stayed for two and a half months. Dad did not work over this time as he was supporting mummy and and babies but unfortunately the bank account started to break and dad had to go home with their four year old big sister. Tearing the family apart. When the babies were finally strong enough to head home to chch hospital, it was a wonderful time where the family was reunited. mum is currently staying at the Ronald McDonald house in chch and trying to work on getting the babies to feed so they can go home!
Attention all followers of our story 31 May 2016
Hello, my name is Elise Hartley and I am the mother of these beautiful strong babes. I want to extend my hugest thanks to al of you whom have followed our story and/or donated. Regardless of wether or not there is money involved, it helps immensely for us as a family to speak to people about this ordeal and get it off our chest. First and foremost we are so proud of our children and we are so blessed to have them on this earth. For all you who have donated your own hard earned money to us, a thankyou just does not do you justice. I can promise you this: each and every cent has helped in more ways than you will ever know, even more so - each and every kind message of support boosts us up in such a special way that I have read them all several times. There are times when a sense of loneliness kicks in for some unwarranted reason and I always turn back to the comments from people like yourselves. I am truly humbled by the generosity and empathy shown here. I promise that once this roller coaster stops, our family WILL do everything we possibly can to give back and pay it foward to someone else who needs it at the time. We are not takers in this family and we absolutely do not take asking for financial help lightly. This was a very last resort and I am so thankful for each and every bit of support. Sincerely - Elise Hartley
