Refurbish, repaint, antifoul HDML Paea - a 72 foot ex Royal New Zealand Navy harbour defence motor launch from 1946.

Refurbish, repaint and antifoul HDML Paea, an ex-NZ Navy Patrol boat from 1946 - the only one of 16 left in New Zealand (and one of two world wide) still in good working order, and original configuration. We need to put the boat on a hardstand to paint and antifoul, along with painting all the topsides while she sits on her berth.

We purchased HDML Paea in 2008 from Picton and have lovingly been working on her since. The boat was on the hard stand in 2012 and we replaced 60 metres of planking, and replaced one belting replaced the generator and painted and antifouled. We consider ourselves Paea's current custodian as she is an important part of NZ Navy and maritime history. She is going to be included in the NZ Navy's 75th celebration this year.
21 JANUARY 2016... we have started sanding the wheelhouse - Keith has found a bit of rot which he is dealing with.. the weather hasn't been very helpful for a few days but better weather is coming and we will be back sanding again.

The work so far...... 26 May 2016
Work is progressing well... there was a bit of rot found in the wheelhouse which has all been replaced. New window surrounds have also been replaced and the wheelhouse completely sealed and repainted. The weather has turned a bit wintery so items like ventilators, light board, handrails have been bought home to be sanded and repainted. Our Paea is starting to look amazing.....
