Beautiful Essi has recently suffered a stroke, which was caused by an undetected heart condition, she is currently awaiting heart surgery.
Otago
Essi, originally from Finland who has made her life here in Queenstown over the past 5 years, has recently suffered a stroke which has left her blind in one eye, this was due to a heart condition that had not been detected until after the stroke. She has recently undergone two emergency surgeries and is awaiting to have heart surgery to mend the hole in her heart that is causing ongoing problems.
Due to this she is currently unable to work until after the surgery and recovery processes, the timeline on this is still unsure as they are waiting on equipment to be able to perform the surgery. It is likely this could be a few months away.
With medical bills adding up, and the general cost of living whilst unable to work, we are raising funds to help her get through this difficult time. With her family unable to come and be here in New Zealand, she is relying on her Queenstown family.
All proceeds will go towards things such as:
- All medical costs like weekly eye scans and ultrasounds
- Fuel and accommodation for travel between home and hospitals in Dunedin / Invercargill
- Flights to fly her Mum over as soon as possible due to Covid, it is still very unknown as to when they will open the borders / or for Essi to get back to Finland after recovery, this would still be months away
- General living costs before and after surgery such as rent and groceries
Even with all that is going on, Essi manages to have a positive attitude and infectious smile, she is loved by many and we all want to assist and support her with this unexpected journey as best we can.
Any donations would be appreciated, small or large and go a long way!
Essi is one of our valued staff members at Frankton Arms Tavern and a good friend to many!
All proceeds will go directly to Essi's medical and expenses account.
