Kia Ora everyone,
We are a group of 33 students who have decided to run the Emerson's Dunedin Marathon on the 10th of September 2023 as a fundraising event for Spark That Chat.
Spark That Chat is a yearly charity campaign involving firstly a social media movement aiming to increase the spread of positive messages, and secondly the selling of limited edition apparel with all profits donated to the Mental Health Foundation of NZ. We have attached the link to Spark That Chat below for more information about the cause.
As a group, we get behind the message that Spark That Chat promotes and want to do our part in spreading that message even further.

Holy hecker!!! Look at the time! We're only a few days out from the big day and the boys are absolutely fizzing. The support is felt with each step, with the total money raised now up to $80,000 and counting…
With this being the final post before the run itself we would once again like to thank YOU. That is anyone reading this post, anyone who has pushed us to go out for one more training run, anyone who has listened to us whine about broken bodies, and anyone who has been with us through any step of the 6570km total that we have run in the buildup. We would like to note that the total has come at a bit of a cost as very sadly three group members have succumbed to major injuries leaving them unable to be at the starting line on Sunday, but watch this space because their journey is not over yet!
With that being said we’re excited to be out there representing what’s important, and that’s all those around us. We’re encouraging everyone not necessarily to run but to take a step, check on those you care about, and know that you have people out there who care about you. Get out there and ‘Spark that Chat’ because tomorrow can always be better, but that doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed.
