I have been working with Hedgehog Rescue NZ for several years and am sometimes caring for up to 9 or more hedgies at any one time.
Auckland
Hedgehogs often are found sick, or injured. Babies are found orphaned, or out in the sunshine during the day. Some have terrible injuries, others may just be cold, dehydrated, starving and thin.. Many have Mange, and fly strike, or maggot infested wounds, this can be quite smelly for a while. They need warmth, rehydrating, food often a trip to the vets for injections which are costly. They need lots of TLC to get them back into the wild as soon as possible.
I am involved as a carer and part of the Hedgehog Rescue NZ network.
funds raised will be used to pay for all the items needed such as medication, vet bills, Advocate, food (Jellymeat, cat biscuits, Pet milk and treats also various special items required to keep the hedgies warm, well fed etc. (polar Fleece blankets, heat pads, towels, food bowls, etc) and housing until they are well enough to be released back into the wild. The bins used to house them are around $30 each.
Many thanks for your kind donation. Its people like you who enable me to continue to rescue the sick , injured hedgies and look after orphaned babies etc. It is costly and we have an influx of sick babies here at present. your help is greatly appreciated. Hog hugs from Monica and the hoggies, xx
