Did you know cancer rehab was a thing? I didn’t, but I do now and am starting Physio next week to start gaining back some strength and energy cos this fatigue is exhausting 😅

I’m lucky enough that thanks to you guys, these sessions will be funded with the help that everyone has shown and given to us over the past few months.

Not much else to update on, I have a follow up MRI over the hill next week and still just chugging along trying to get on with some “normality” and naps, lots of naps 😆 ✌🏼

  • I’m home!

I arrived home yesterday (2nd July) after my final lot of treatment for what will hopefully be my only round needed. I ended up with two blood transfusions which have helped me feel a little bit more human. Today I’m tucked up on the couch with the fire roaring and enjoying the beautiful west coast sunshine streaming into our home with Olli and a book. I’m not going very far from home at the moment as I’m neutropenic and my blood counts are low and the last thing we need is for me to get sick or am infection of any type. Hope everyone is keeping well with the winter bugs truly about!

    Hi everyone!

Arrived back to Christchurch yesterday for my final lot of surgery and direct radiation. I’m so stoked to be on my final week for now. Have had a rough few days last week but I’m getting there. I also need a blood transfusion today which will help my levels and also hopefully help with a bit of energy which would be nice!

Thank you all for your continued support, well wishes and messages. Am so ready to be at home and start getting back into routine with my family and get back to a bit of normality.

Followed the yellow brick ‘n daffodil road & strolled my way through to oncology for the last time today 🙌🏼 28 radiation treatments, 6 chemotherapy sessions, umpteen unsuccessful and successful attempts to take my blood, mri scans, ct scans and pet ct scans and I’M DONE!

Heading home in the morning for the weekend and will be over at Chch women’s hospital bright and early Monday morning for the second part of treatment consisting of surgery and direct radiation into my uterus for a couple of days then it’s home to wait and recover before another Pet-CT scan in approximately 5 months time where we will know how all this has gone and what happens next.

Fingers crossed tomorrow’s flight is more gentle than Monday’s and the roads are open to drive across on Sunday 🤞🏼

Hello everyone! Quick update for those not on Facebook etc. I was lucky enough to have my medical team move some appointments around allowing me to fly this past weekend and have a full three days at home with my family over the weekend 🥰 I flew back to Christchurch yesterday from Hokitika and while its a quick flight it was super bumpy and came off feeling/looking pretty green. In other news today I have graduated from chemo! 🤓 celebrated with a HUGE nap 😂 two more radiation days then that’s stage one completed. Thank you all so so much for all your support and messages so far. The light at the end of this tunnel is nearing a bit closer and I am all for that. - Helen ✌🏻

Helen and I would like to say thank you so very much to everyone who has donated to help with her cancer journey.

The response has been more that we could have ever hoped for and will go a long way to ease the extra burden on Helen's family at this time. Much Love <3
