Help 2-Year-Old Jonathan our miracle baby overcome Life’s Biggest Challenges

Jonathan is our beautiful 2-year-old “miracle baby” and the younger identical twin of his brother, William. At just 12 months old, Jonathan suffered a severe acquired brain injury after a serious lung infection went undiagnosed. This led to respiratory failure requiring ECMO life support, which caused bleeding in his brain. Since then, he has undergone 7 brain surgeries and a procedure to insert a MIC-KEY feeding button.

Jonathan’s injuries were the result of medical complications, and therefore his major medical care and surgeries are covered under ACC. However, many essential costs are not funded. These include medications and pharmacy expenses, along with other ongoing day-to-day care needs.

Jonathan now requires round-the-clock care. His condition is unpredictable and includes frequent vomiting, developmental delays, muscle stiffness, and delayed speech. One parent has had to step away from work to provide full-time care, leaving our family on a single income while managing hospital visits, therapies, and daily care.

In addition to medical costs, our family is facing urgent immigration costs for Jonathan. Funds raised will help cover visa and lawyer fees and appeal application costs. These are essential to ensure Jonathan can continue receiving the specialised medical care he needs in New Zealand.
