Raising money to support a family that has been a victim of domestic violence and robbery.
Auckland
Hello,
My name is Goldie Moritz. For my Bat Mitzvah I am doing a tzedaka (charity) project. My project is to raise money for a single mother with 7 kids. They were forced to leave their home to escape domestic violence. After a time at Women’s Refuge, they have been placed in their own housing. Unfortunately, shortly after moving in they were robbed, which has made a difficult situation even more stressful.
I was given the opportunity to help this family through a wonderful organization called The Aunties. The Aunties provide one-on-one wrap-around support for women and families in refuge and after. They are able to do this by reaching out to their network of “Aunties”. My mom, dad and I are all “Aunties” and love to help out when we can.
To protect their privacy, I can’t tell you too much about the family. But I can say the mom has been working so hard to keep her kids safe and fed that she doesn’t have time and money left over for things they might want. I will be buying gifts to make the holiday season feel much better! I am also hoping with the money I raise to replace some of the crucial household items that were stolen.
We are sponsoring a family starting over after escaping domestic violence.
All funds will be used to buy household appliances, food and gifts for the family.
