A Givealittle page organised by Checkpoint Watch Auckland to support a family after a serious car accident left their grandmother in ICU.
Auckland
In the early hours of 19 December, a family of five were involved in a serious car accident while taking their 73-year-old grandmother to the airport, so she could return to her home country after learning that her brother had passed away.
Instead of travelling, she was rushed to hospital. She remains in ICU weeks later, having suffered multiple medical emergencies and is still in a critical condition.
The impact on the family has been devastating. Her daughter has had to stop working to remain by her mother’s bedside while also caring for her own child. The emotional strain is immense, and the loss of income has added significant financial pressure at an already overwhelming time.
The family only has third-party insurance, and without full details of the other driver involved, they have received no financial support to help with accident-related costs.
This Givealittle page has been created by the Checkpoint Watch Auckland page on behalf of the family as they are focused entirely on their loved one’s survival.
All donations go DIRECTLY to the family.
Checkpoint Watch Auckland does not receive or handle any of the money.
While government and hospital financial assistance may be available, we haven’t explored this yet. If we are eligible for any assistance, it won’t cover all of the costs.
Any support, whether donating or sharing, will help ease the burden so they can focus on what matters most — being there for their mum and grandmother.
I run the Checkpoint page and am organising this Givealittle on behalf of the family, who asked for support while they focus on their mother’s care and recovery.
Donations will help cover lost income, hospital travel and parking, household bills and groceries, unused airline tickets, and help replace the family car, which is not covered by third-party insurance, while the grandmother remains in ICU.
