Journeying through cancer recovery while learning to heal others with love and purpose.

Hola! Kia Ora!
Hi everyone,
My name is María, I'm originally from Spain, and I came to Aotearoa to follow a calling: to learn Māori healing and build a life helping others. This land has given me so much, and I dream of giving that back through my work.
Last year I went through uterine cancer and surgery, which left me financially shaken. Soon after, I spent months without income while changing visas after reporting abusive employers. I recovered, slowly, and kept working, because healing others is what keeps me grounded.
Now I face another challenge: a breast surgery followed by radiotherapy. As a massage therapist, my work is physical, and I won’t be able to earn a living for several weeks while I heal.
I’m on a work visa, so I don’t qualify for government support, and I don’t have family in New Zealand to lean on.
I’m asking for help to cover rent and basic living costs during recovery.
If you can support, share, or simply send good wishes, it means more than I can express. Thank you for helping me heal so I can continue supporting others on their own healing journeys.
With gratitude, Ngā Mihi.
María
Funds will go towards day-to-day living expenses to support my cancer recovery ( pay rent, groceries...)
New challenge 18 February 2026
To make things harder, the wellness clinic I worked for has just closed, leaving me without income during treatment while I search for a new job.
