Olivia Morgan is hoping to compete at a top athletics event in the USA in February 2018. Let's make her dream come true.
Taranaki
Olivia is a motivated 16 year-old from Hawera, Taranaki. Having excelled at regional and national level, she has been invited to compete in long jump, triple jump and 60 meters at the Simplot Games in Idaho - one of the USA’s most prestigious track and field events for secondary students. This is the first time that NZ has been invited to participate.
Olivia’s drive, focus, and discipline will keep her improving and developing as an athlete. If she can make it to Idaho, she’ll give it everything she’s got. But she can’t do it alone!
Some young people have the financial means that put opportunities like this within easy reach. For others, funding their ambitions is another challenge to be overcome. Olivia, her mum, and her community has made a great effort to support her goals, fundraising by selling chocolates door-to-door, organizing sausage sizzles and much more. They will continue to do their best by her - however, the costs associated with international travel present a real challenge.
Olivia has put hundreds of hours of training into achieving this amazing honour - early mornings before school, weekends and evenings, in all weathers. And she isn’t just a great individual athlete, but also a positive member of her community and school. She has mentored and coached younger children in athletics, inspiring them to believe in themselves and to do their best.
Olivia needs a team of supporters behind her so she can put heart and soul into representing her country. If you can join her team, Olivia and her family want to say a huge thank you. You'll be helping to make this talented young woman’s dream a reality!
I'm Olivia's cousin. I wanted to support her hard work and commitment, and help her get the chance to compete on the international stage.
The money raised will go towards sports uniform, warm clothing for the US winter, and travel expenses.
