Rebuild a family's life after house fire.
Mount Maunganui, Tauranga
We are reaching out to the community to support a young local family of five who have recently lost everything in a devastating house fire. The family were fortunate to escape with only the clothes on their backs, but they are now faced with the overwhelming task of rebuilding their lives from nothing.
Among the belongings destroyed were specialised items for their youngest child, who lives with Angelman Syndrome which is a rare neurological condition that affects movement, balance, and communication. These items, including supportive seating, feeding equipment, and sensory aids and are essential to his daily comfort and wellbeing and urgently need to be replaced.
The family’s two older children, aged 9 and 7, have shown remarkable strength and resilience throughout this ordeal. Despite losing their toys, school supplies, clothes, and the comfort of their own rooms, they are doing well and are looking forward to returning to a safe and stable home where they can focus on simply being kids, get back to school with confidence, and rebuild their routines.
Unfortunately, this whānau did not have insurance. Your generosity and kindness will help them rebuild their lives.
