Help Alfred and Kelsey get to the 2022 ITTF Oceania Championships
Henderson, Auckland
Waitemata Table Tennis is the home of Table Tennis in West Auckland and has a brand new international standard stadium in Parr’s Park, Henderson. Alfred DelaPena and Kelsey Amor have both been selected in the NZ open men’s team to play the Oceania Champs in Melbourne.
On top of training and competing, both players are busy supporting our club as members of our committee, mentoring younger players, leading our new weekly Para coaching program, providing coaching at our monthly have-a-go days, running our weekly West Auckland school’s team competition, casual night sessions and girls and junior coaching.
There is almost no funding in NZ to support high performance Table Tennis players. For the past 10 years Alfred and Kelsey have paid their own travel and accommodation costs to travel NZ regularly to train and compete in NZ tournaments. So they can meet the standard required to be picked to represent NZ.
This will be an expensive trip due to extra COVID restrictions with costs of around $3500 per player, required to be paid upfront to secure their position in the team. Waitemata Table Tennis is actively fundraising to help Alfred and Kelsey, and we are seeking donations and/or sponsorship for them. Any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
