Help Alistair fund major surgery on his right foot
Auckland
Hi everyone!
In November, I will undergo major surgery on my foot. Due to having Rheumatoid Arthritis as a child, there is no cartilage in a few of the key joints in my foot. After exploring many options and journeying with physios, osteos, musculoskeletal and arthritis specialists, the only tool left in our tool kit is to do a fusion of the affected joints. The pain in my foot will either be completely removed or greatly reduced through this procedure.
In my daily life, I am unable to stand without significant pain and spend 80-90% of the day sitting as a consequence. I am excited about the possibility of being able to walk long distances again without pain, something I haven't been able to do for 7 years now. Who knows, I might even have the chance to run again!!
I work as a Feldenkrais Practitioner - (posture and breathing specialist) and I am incredibly excited to be able to devote more focused energy and time to work with my clients and help their own personal journey with their bodies.
After a long battle with my insurance company, they have declined my prior-approval which means I will have to self-fund this procedure which will cost $20,760.00. I have explored having the procedure in the public system, but it may take a few years.
Any financial assistance to aid this journey will be immensely helpful and valued.
Thanks SO much,
Alistair
