Amy has held cancer at bay for more than a decade. But now the fight enters a new level.
Auckland
Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer 11 years ago. She went through breast surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment. They thought she’d beaten it but 7 years ago it came back, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Cancer, it was now in her liver and bones.
Amy has lived with terminal cancer for 7 years, yet on the outside she looks like a fit healthy woman. She exercises, eats a plant based diet, is well read about all thing’s cancer. She continues to stand strong, focused and stays positive despite being on treatments for cancer daily.
She is a mother who has raised two wonderful sons, Nico (11) and River (7). Her courageous, strong, boys are what keep her fighting the battle with cancer and her boys need her more than ever.
The cancer is progressing aggressively again. Oncologists say that Amy has 3 months, possibly one year with chemotherapy, her last funded option. The side effects of chemo are horrific and she wants to hold off this last form of invasive treatment.
There is hope though as other non-funded treatments can help her; Trastuzumab deruxtecan, also known as T-DXd, “is the first HER2-targeted therapy shown to provide clinically meaningful improvement in progression-free and overall survival compared with standard chemotherapy in people with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer, the cost is $23k every three weeks.
This is possibly Amy's last hope, her last stand, so please help us fund this treatment. It could mean another healthy year.
The money will be spent the unfunded treatment Trastuzumab deruxtecan.
With thanks 29 August 2023
I feel blessed to be able to use the money raised to contribute towards my ongoing treatment.
You have all enabled me to spend more time with my family.
For this I thank you.
