Raising funds for ongoing medical and rehabilitation expenses, as well as emergency air ambulance fees and accommodation while in recovery.

Charlie was born and raised in New Zealand. He is an avid hunter, conservationist and outdoorsman. His love for hunting and the outdoors is what inspired his recent trip to the Northern Rockies in British Columbia, Canada.
Charlie had an accident in the remote back country while horse riding during his last few weeks in BC. The horse he was riding spooked and reared over backwards on top of him shattering his pelvis in five places. He was very fortunate to be carrying a Garmin InReach, which saved his life. After a 3-hour agonising wait for an air ambulance, he was airlifted to the nearest hospital (Fort Nelson Hospital) and again to a specialist care unit (Prince George Hospital). He has a lengthy hospital stay in Canada until he is strong enough to return to New Zealand and continue his recovery here.
Unfortunately his insurance had lapsed a week prior to his accident. His medical and rehabilitation expenses will be ongoing and extensive. We have created this page to assist with aforementioned medical and rehabilitation expenses, as well as emergency air ambulance fees and accommodation while in recovery. Charlie would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and we want to return the favour.
We can all learn a very important lesson from this unfortunate circumstance - always carry a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) with you in the back country and check your insurance expiration date when traveling internationally! This could happen to you.
