Two much-loved dogs. One unexpected incident. And a family desperately trying to bring them home.
Henderson, Auckland
On 20 October 2026, what started as an ordinary walk with my two dogs turned our lives upside down.
During our walk in a public area where dogs are required to be on leads, two small dogs approached us from behind without their owners visibly present. Despite my attempts to warn them away, an altercation occurred, and the other dog sadly lost its life.
I understand the seriousness of what happened and don't take it lightly.
The following day, Animal Management impounded both my dogs, Beau and Manu, while the incident was investigated. My application for early release was declined, and I've since been advised the investigation could take up to 28 days.
**Meanwhile, the daily pound fees continue to accumulate, placing me under significant financial pressure.**
Being separated from my boys has been heartbreaking, particularly knowing that Manu struggles with anxiety in unfamiliar environments. I've been told he's showing signs of depression, which makes this situation even harder.
I'm doing everything I can to bring them home, but I can't manage the growing costs alone.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help towards their impound fees and release costs.
They're not just dogs; they're family. All I want is to have them home, safe and surrounded by the people who love them.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity and support. Even sharing our story means so much.
