Help to bring Mike, our dearly loved partner and dad, home to rest

Kua hinga te tōtara i Te Waonui-a-Tāne
(The tōtara tree has fallen in Tāne's great forest)
On Monday morning, July 31, we lost our incredible dad and our mum lost her partner and best friend.
Mike, our dad, was in Mongolia, set to run a ride in the country he loved for its wide-open spaces and adventure. He died unexpectedly and suddenly of an aortic dissection. Those of you who knew him well know how fit and strong he was. There aren’t any words to describe the shock and heartbreak we are feeling.
He and mum (Angela) set up Britton Adventures in 1992, and motorcycling and travel was their lives and a huge part of ours too. He was so incredibly proud of their business and what they accomplished together, and we know he's going to be missed by the motorcycling community too.
Dad is still in Mongolia, and insurance does not cover the full cost of getting him home to rest. They do have travel insurance, but our initial understanding is that it will not cover all expenses.
All donations will go towards the repatriation, and to support our mum through this incredibly sad and difficult time. We will keep you updated with any changes.

Mike is Home 14 August 2023
Mike is finally home, laid to rest next to his mum at his home in Pipiwai. It was a long and difficult journey but now it is finally over. Thank you to everyone that attended the tangi to say farewell, and thank you to everyone that donated so generously to help us with the enormous challenges and costs we were faced with to bring Mike back to New Zealand. We are all so grateful for the love and support we have all received over the past 2 weeks.
