    Hi all, quick update. MPI have confirmed that they have Flower's application and are processing it as we speak. Once this permit comes through we will book 'little Miss' her flights. They did also mention that due to changes in testing that Flowers stay in quarantine may need to be extended which as you imagine was not music to my ears. 10 days was already going to feel like forever without her especially seeing as we have not spent a night apart, but we will cross that hurdle when we get to it. Only 4 days to go on our givealittle page. We have been truly blessed by the support and kindness that has been shown to both Flower and I already and are getting close to our target.

    For those of you following our journey in preparation to return home to NZ, we have been working hard on our crate training and decided it was time to move to putting the top on. I'm so happy to be able to report that Flower seems to be getting comfortable with it - although it does still require treats to get us this far. But the fact she was happy to lie in there for a while after she ate the treats was a win in my eyes. She is able to stand and turn around without panicking. So proud of my wee girl x

    Quick update of few words today but look what Flower can do now (with of course the incentive of treats). Such a brave and clever little girl. Baby steps but progress is evident :)

    Kia orana from Rarotonga everyone. Quick update from us - Flower's travel crate has arrived! Not that she seems too impressed with it at this stage although it has only been a couple of days. I'm hoping to slowly get her used to it so I have packed up her makeshift bed from when she was going through her heartworm treatment and put the blanket and cushion into her crate. I've gone with just the base at this stage and she will now put all 3 feet in to pick up a treat before she turns around and runs out again. Once she is comfortable with the base, the plan is to attach the top and let her get used to that part...it will be slow going but we have a few months and I don't want to rush things and end up traumatizing her because otherwise it will be torture when it comes to 'travel/flight' day. Obviously because of this, no pics of her in it yet. Will post in due course.

    Again, thanks to all of you that have donated, shared or supported us in whatever way you can. It does really mean so much to Flower and I.

  • Making progress...

    Kia orana and woof woof to all of our supporters. Thought we would give you a quick update on how our travel plans are progressing.

    I have Flower's travel crate ordered, paid for and currently sitting at my parents place ready to come over to Rarotonga at the next opportunity. I'm sure Flower is really looking forward to receiving that surprise! Hehe.

    I also had a lovely and heartwarming reply from an enquiry I sent to a pet quarantine facility in Christchurch - this was such a huge relief as I had emailed two that people had suggested and neither had bothered to reply to me. Not only did the lovely lady reply, but she sent me some valuable information and demonstrated genuine care when answering my million questions! Unfortunately, they do not organise the flights from the Cook Islands so the next hurdle is trying to get some form of communication/reply from a pet transporter! I've sent an email off tonight so keep your fingers crossed for us.

  • Small spaces

    Flower and I just want to express our gratitude and are overwhelmed by everyone's kindness so far. It has been quite emotional to see how many people care and have donated.

    We will be looking to get our 'crate' (although I think i might refer to it as our travel taxi to try to make it sound more appealing to Flower. Lol.) over here in the next couple of months so that we can start getting used to it. I'm not sure how we will go with that but I figure if I start leaving it open and let her poke around in it then it shouldn't be too scary. Fingers crossed.

    Please keep sharing our page. We are getting closer to our target and every donation is so so appreciated. Every little bit counts.
