Help Bring Tangihanga to Screen

Tangihanga has already moved thousands of audience members across Aotearoa through its nationally toured stage production. People have laughed, cried, shared their own stories, and seen their whānau reflected on stage.

Now we're taking the next step and bringing Tangihanga to the screen.

Written and directed by Kristyl Neho, Tangihanga is a powerful Māori story about whānau, grief, secrets, forgiveness and the promises we make to the people we love. Set during a tangihanga, it explores what happens when a long-buried family secret is revealed at the worst possible moment.

This short film is a proof of concept for a feature film that has been over fifteen years in the making. It is an opportunity to share an authentic story from within our communities with audiences across Aotearoa and internationally.
