Our Journey

A vibrant spiritual family, the Mar Dionysius Indian Orthodox Church (MDIOC) has served Wellington for over 20 years. Beyond our regular services, we support our youth, care for elders, and uplift those in need. For several years, we have also supported the Wellington Free Ambulance and other vital charities across New Zealand and overseas.

While deeply grateful to share space at the Assyrian Church, our growing congregation needs a permanent home. We envision a sanctuary to nurture our children’s faith and empower them as compassionate citizens who serve the wider public.

Our Vision

In March 2026, we blessed the cornerstone of our new Stokes Valley home. We are building a spiritual lighthouse featuring:

Sanctuary: For Holy Qurbana, prayer, and sacraments.

Sunday School: To educate and inspire the next generation.

Community Hall: To expand our fellowship and charitable outreach.

Why We Need You

Building at 36 George Street is a massive undertaking. Our parishioners are giving generously, but we need the wider community to help bridge the financial gap. Every dollar raised goes directly to construction.
