It’s been a hard week for our little warrior. Candice has been unwell with the flu, and it’s hit her tiny body hard. She’s been tired, sore, and not her bright, bubbly self.
We’ve spent as much time as possible out in nature, helping her body heal the best way we know how. Fresh air, soft sunlight, bare feet on the earth… and yes, even tree-hugging. Anything to soothe her, strengthen her immune system, and give her moments of peace.
In the midst of this, something bittersweet happened. Her paternal family from America — who only recently made contact — have now seen her Givealittle page. It’s a connection we never expected, arriving at a time when she’s most in need of love and support from all sides of her family.

Over the past week, Candice has embraced some truly special moments outside of her hospital treatments. She spent time at Wānanga on the marae, immersing herself in her culture, learning, sharing stories, and connecting deeply with her roots. These days have been filled with laughter, kōrero, and a sense of belonging that has truly lifted her spirit.
She’s treasured precious time with her Mum, whānau, and dear friends, as well as soaking up the wisdom and warmth of the elders who have surrounded her with aroha and support. Being on the marae has given her a beautiful space for reflection, healing, and joy – a gentle reminder of the strength that comes from community and connection.
Candice is so grateful for these moments of wairua and togetherness, which have filled her heart with light and positivity as she continues her journey. 🌈✨
