Help Carolina’s Family Rebuild After a Devastating House Fire

On Tuesday the 22nd of August, Carolina’s home was completely destroyed by a fire. She had purchased the house only 25 days ago and, unfortunately, had not yet been able to arrange insurance for the contents of the home.

Carolina lives with her husband, their two young children, aged 1 and 5, and her mother, who is visiting New Zealand on a Parent Visitor Visa.

We are incredibly grateful that everyone survived the fire. However, Carolina’s mother, Zulmira Barbosa was taken to hospital after inhaling smoke. Following the immense shock and trauma, she suffered a mild heart attack and is now undergoing medical examinations and treatment.

Her health insurance may not cover all of the hospital and cardiac-related expenses, creating another unexpected financial burden for the family at an already devastating time.

In just one day, Carolina’s family lost their home, their belongings, and the sense of security they had only recently built.
