Helping Anita celebrate her 40th with a long-dreamed-of trip to Rarotonga after everything she has given to others.
Waikato
Anita turns 40 next year, and for once she’s let herself dream about something just for her: a long-imagined trip to Rarotonga with her partner. As a mum of four, she almost never puts herself first. When she and her partner married, they kept everything simple — no big wedding, no traditional celebration, and no honeymoon. This trip is the closest thing she’s ever had to that milestone moment.
These past few months have shown me again how much she gives to the people she loves. When my mum passed away on 1 October, Anita was one of the first to drop everything and come to my side. As an only child, her support meant more than I can express. She did the same when my dad needed surgery — no hesitation, just turning up and putting her own life on pause to help mine. She never asks for anything in return.
I want to do something meaningful for her. The cost of return flights and accommodation is around $5,000 for Anita and her partner. Even helping to cover part of that would ease the pressure and let her enjoy this birthday without setting herself back financially. If we happen to go beyond $5,000, any extra will go toward experiences on the island to make this a truly memorable trip.
I’ll be the first to donate $20. If anyone else is able to contribute — no matter the amount — it will genuinely help someone who has always shown up for others.
Anita is my cousin, but more importantly she has been one of my strongest supports during my mum’s passing and my dad’s recent surgery.
Return flights and accommodation for Anita and her partner, with any extra going toward experiences during the trip.
He is an amazing man, lucky to call him family
