Help Christo and His Family Return to New Zealand ❤️

Christo is 35, a husband and dad to Angelica (14) and Johann (15), living with Stage 4 colon cancer.

In November 2025, we left New Zealand for a work opportunity in Canada. Just two weeks later, Christo became critically ill. Doctors discovered a perforated bowel and Stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to his liver and lungs. He needed emergency surgery and now lives with an ostomy.

With our family’s help, we returned to South Africa, where Christo is receiving chemotherapy. We are incredibly grateful for his treatment here.

Our hope is to return to New Zealand so Christo can consult specialists and explore more treatment possibilities. We know not every option will be suitable or funded, and some may have costs, but having more possibilities to explore gives us hope.

New Zealand is where we built our lives for almost six years. Our friends and support network are there, and we long to return.

Our children are currently homeschooled because we cannot afford school fees while managing treatment and living costs. We want them back in school, with routine, friends and the chance to simply be kids again.

We hope to return between November 2026 and January 2027. Funds will help with flights, Carmella’s relocation, medical/travel costs and essential expenses as we settle and rebuild.
