Helping our father cover overwhelming medical expenses after a life-threatening illness during his visit to New Zealand.
Mangere, Auckland
Our father Hajj Mohammed Hassan travelled from Fiji to Auckland to visit our family, but just days after arriving, he became critically ill and was rushed to hospital.
He was admitted to Auckland City Hospital from 30 March to 16 April, where he underwent emergency surgery and intensive treatment for a life-threatening infection. During his stay, he also suffered a serious gastrointestinal bleed requiring further urgent treatment. We have received a hospital bill of NZ$109,000 for this admission alone. My father is nearly 70 and is retired and these cost are just to much for him.
On 16 April, he was transferred to Middlemore Hospital, where he remained until 11 May, undergoing further surgeries, including skin grafts. We have not yet received the bill for his treatment at Middlemore, but we expect it to be another significant cost.
Although Dad had travel insurance, it will only cover NZ$10,000 because he became ill within the first three days of arriving in New Zealand. This has left our family facing overwhelming medical expenses.
We are incredibly grateful that our father survived and is now recovering, but we cannot manage these costs alone.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will help us pay his medical bills and ease the financial burden on our family. Please share this with your family and friends.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. ❤️
