    Hello Everyone,

DJ had his first hydro therapy session. It was a very gentle introduction for a boy who is not keen on water.

He did a great job and made us all proud again. He had a few little walks and together managed 75 metres at 1 and 1.5km an hour.

I was amazed how high he was able to lift his legs in the water.

Thank you all for your kindness and interest in DJ.

    Tracey, DJ and Honey Patch!

    Daily Progress:

    Hello, friends and DJ Supporters,

As I had to start work again this week DJ has been left in the capable hands of Poppa!

Each day he is making small steps of progress, which has culminated in a massive leap forward this week, to DJ walking mostly assisted, but starting to walk like a a drunken sailor on his own, ( No offense to the sailors out there).

On Monday, I was greeted with DJ standing on his own to meet me, Tuesday DJ stood and took three steps towards me, Wednesday, DJ heard my car in the driveway, while Poppa was outside with Honey, he stood up and walked to the front door, unfortunately he slipped on the tiles and landed in a heap. On Thursday, DJ decided he wanted to do his out the gate street walk and being assisted, he walked to the corner and back!!!

So fantastic news, but it is a bit like having a toddler learning to walk, I have to make sure there are no tiles exposed, no sharp corners or edges, and no slippery mats.

Now, we need to work on building some muscle and strength... hopefully he can get to some hydrotherapy treatment, soon.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement, as a family we are so proud of DJ's Recovery and Determination.

    Love Tracey and DJ

    The latest on DJ.

We would like to say again a huge Thank You to you all for DJ's donations, prayers and support well wishes.

Over the last 5 days DJ is making positive progress in various forms daily, from eating well again, starting to stand on his own, and he even took two steps to greet me after work yesterday, toileting well, although he usually tips right up for his #2 and I have to push him back down to stop him doing a back flip!

His strong will is shining out a bit... he lets me know when he wants to go out or in the case of this morning I definitely want to go back to bed after my 6am toilet, some food I do not want, and other food I'll bite mum's thumb for, which places he wants to walk and see, or pulling his legs out of my pysio exercise and placing them where he wants.

As you can imagine although we still have a long road ahead, I couldn't be more wrapped with DJ's progress, ESPECIALLY considering where this crazy accident started.

DJ's sister Honey Patch is now integrated back into spending normal days and nights with DJ and they are comfortable lying in their beds and walking outside again.

I would like to give a shout out of thanks to Georgia Mycroft for her support, advice and for cheering us on at all hours. Also, to Kathleen from The Balanced Dog Ltd - for amazing food in a tube, creams, potions, snack boxes, massage, heatpads, laser treatment and sound advice. To one of her clients for giving DJ a paid session of Kathleen loving massage care. And also, to Becky and Jacob Brinch for putting together a raffle to raise near $400 towards DJ's medical costs. Amazing support all round!

Thank you all again, for your love ❤️

Finally, I have time to sit with a drink and give you all a heartfelt thank you from myself -Tracey and my devine DJ.

As Nicky has kindly set up this page for us, we say a huge thank you and hugs not only to your boys , but Freddie, and Nauticus!

It is very humbling to know what an amazing greyhound community we have, who have kindly prayed for us, sent their thoughts, hugs and donated this awesome amount of money! As others will know it doesn't take long to add up medical bills and the week of days and nights stay, soon added up, even without x-rays, CT scans etc. I did have a continuous account for my babies, bit it is never enough especially as this is my first year of being a greyhound owner. This Saturday is DJs Gotcha Day!

Now an update, over the first week from his accident, which happened here at home, each night DJ had to stay in the after hours on heavy drugs to keep his neck still and wait for the Tuesday and have a CT scan. The scan showed that he had a blood clot pressing on his spinal cord and bleeding in the spinal cord. Only one leg had feeling at this stage. DJ seemed to go down hill each night with the stress of hospital and no mother. Extra bleeds, serious bruising and comatose states. Last Friday we bought him home, it was a rough weekend a few set backs, and little improvement. This Monday the medication were stopped to see how DJ would perform on his own. It has been a positive change each day and celebratory steps here and there. Diarrhea and vomiting stopped, feeling returned to 3 then 4 legs, and we have been teaching him to walk again and seen great progress here with the toes now curling the correct way. Wednesday night the catheter came out and late that night DJ had his first pee, in a most awkward position! Yesterday's step was DJ finally eating some real food. He had not eaten for so long his weak and bony body was heart wrenching. I had been syringing chicken broth in every few hours. I believe we are on the road to recovery and learning and we can finally sign a breath of relief.

Thank you to the people who shared their knowledge, ideas and advice. Especially Georgia and Rosie who have been on a similar road.

Kindest Regards and Doggie love from DJ and Tracey.

Thank you for the update on how you're all doing. What a traumatic thing to happen but your love and commitment to DJ are bringing him through it. Wishing you more peaceful times now for DJ to heal and recover back to full zoomie health.

Over the weekend, Tracey took DJ home in the hopes that being home in a calm quiet environment with his mummy would help his recovery. It was a long, hard weekend with round the clock care and not much sleep. DJ had a few ups and a few downs.

In the last 24 hours there has been some promising progress. He's come off some of his medication, he's lifted his head on his own, sat up on his chest on his own and tried to stand to go to the toilet with support.

Thanks again for all of the support, advice and donations. Tracey wants you all to know that although she hasn't had the time to thank you all, that she really appreciates it.

Here is just a quick update

Unfortunately there isn't much change in DJ yet and it is still early days. Eventually when he is on oral medication he should be ok to go home but at this stage he still needs the drip.

A huge thank you to all the wonderful people who have donated ❤

  • Update and Thank you from Tracey and DJ

    Hi everyone,

First of all, Tracey would like to say a big thank you to the huge amount of support and generosity of everyone. It is truly appreciated.

We have a bit of an update on DJ this evening. He had his CT scan and that showed no break in his neck which is a huge relief! He still has no feeling in his front legs and it is believed to be from a blood clot causing pressure on his spine. With medication and time, it is hoped that this blood clot will slowly dicipate and allow feeling to return to DJ's legs. So it is great news but still only time will tell. The vets are holding off on a MRI at this stage. Despite the good news this evening, the bills are still mounting to $7k+ so all of the donations will go a long way to easing the financial pressure for Tracey.

    Thanks again ❤
