Help support Dylan, Sam, Marley and Bella with their unexpected expenses on this road to recovery
Pahiatua, Manawatu-Wanganui
On Wed 25th Jan, Dylan, Sam and their families world was flipped upside down with the devastating diagnosis – their beautiful daughter Marley has leukaemia.
It was only last week Marley was her typical 3year old self - running around being her happy, cheeky and full of energy self.
Marley has a long road ahead and so does her mum, dad and baby sister Bella.
Marley went to the doctors on Sunday with a sore knee & fever, and was sent to the hospital to see a paediatrician. Sunday night and Monday they performed tests on Marley, and Tuesday morning the urgent decision was made to fly her up to Starship as they had more specialised medical professional available. After some more tests they awoke to the devastating news on Wednesday morning.
Marley will be receiving treatment at Starship hospital in Auckland so as you can imagine they will be under some financial strain in the coming months. Dylan is self-employed and it is unclear when he will be back down here to continue working. Sam has just come to the end of her maternity leave after having Bella and now will be unable to return to work for the near future. They are lucky enough to be able to stay in the Ronald MacDonald Foundation house, but there are so many more expenses they will be worrying about.
With the huge support network Dylan & Sam have back in Pahiatua their family and friends will be pitching in to look after Bella their 6-month-old daughter so they can focus on Marley’s long journey ahead to full recovery.
Dylan and Sam's Sister/Sister in-Law
The goal of this page is to take away some of the financial burden for Dylan and Sam for living expenses while there is a pause of an income. Along with all the extra expenses for the weeks ahead. Like travel, food, the mortgage, and helping with Bella.
Update from Sam & Dylan 9 February 2023
Big post ahead…
What a roller coaster couple of weeks we have had. There’s no way possible we can thank everyone enough!!! ❤️
Our family and friends first of all… everyone has stepped in to care for our baby Bella, missing her so much but know she is in the best hands!! The give a little - WOW!!! Absolutely speechless, thank you all sooo much! You have no idea how much pressure this takes off. 💞 All the individual fundraising, messages, phone calls etc. The support we have received has been so overwhelming - we are so lucky to be from such an amazing community!
The medical staff have been so amazing, in Palmy and up here in Auckland. I took Marley to the doctor with a sore knee and 4 days later she’s having chemo. Can’t fault that!! 🙌🏻
We have now moved from Starship Hospital to The Ronald McDonald House! Which is our first milestone!! Marley is responding perfectly to her treatment which is amazing! She has just been a superstar this whole time, if you knew what this 3 year old has had to go through!!! It’s incredible - kids are so resilient.
She now has treatment once a week up at the hospital so that’s us for the next wee while.
Again, thank you thank you thank you!!!
