  • Ella update for May

      6 June 2023

Hi Everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates. Life has been hectic! Ella has been doing well within herself. We have been having a few issues with Ella's neutrophil count going too low after a round of chemo to proceed the following week. Ella has not been receiving chemo treatment weekly like she is meant to for her size because her little body can't handle it. The vet has had to drop it back to every 3 weeks. Ella still goes to the vet weekly for checkups to see how her lymph nodes are doing.

The other problem we had was Ella's reaction to one of her drugs caused her to present with symptoms like a urine infection. However, further testing and a trip to the emergency specialist centre revealed she had sterile cystitis caused by one of her drugs. This was stopped immediately and she was put on furosemide to flush the bad drug out of her system however, this drug causes her to pee all the time. Finally, today she has managed to be allowed to come off her furosemide, so hopefully, in the next few days, everything will go back to normal and we can all go back to getting full night sleeps! Once again, thank you to everyone who is donating to the cause it is truly appreciated! Love Michaela and Ellla xo

  • Ella's First Chemo Injection

      3 May 2023

Ella went to the vet yesterday afternoon to get her first chemo injection she was given Vincristine. Chemo doesn't affect dogs like it does humans so that is a bonus. Little Ella had no idea what was going so that was a good thing. She will go to the vet every Tuesday morning for blood tests and to get her chemo. At home, She is on antibiotics for her wounds from the biopsies, Prednisone to help her with the cancer treatment and is also taking losec for 10 days to protect her tummy. Ella is happy in herself still running around the house like normal and getting excited about meal times. Jumping on and off the furniture and playing with toys. She is acting normal which is great to see! Ella will be getting her stitches out next Tuesday morning at her visit to the vet so will provide an update on how the wounds are then and how she is doing. Thank you again for the support it is much appreciated. Thanks, Michaela and Ella x

After a visit to the vets last Monday the 24th of April. Ella was booked for surgery on Wednesday the 26th of April to have biopsies taken of the lumps in her neck.

Unfortunately, the results came back as cancer yesterday afternoon (Lymphoma). Ella is starting chemotherapy today and will keep everyone updated on how things go. She is recovering well from her biopsy surgery and hoping to get stitches out early next week. We appreciate any help we can get! Thanks Ella and Michaela
