Ettiene needs your help with his father's funeral and traveling costs

  • Sadly my father has passed away

      15 June 2023

It is very sad to report that my father has passed away peacefully at home on the 14th. I did not get the opportunity to see him personally but had plenty of online time with him in his last moments, even if he maybe did not even recognize me.

This has now burdened me with more expenses to change current flights back home and also costs for things that were not in the mix. Please assist me to cover all of this.

  • The time has come to do what I need to do

      6 June 2023

Given the circumstances at home it is decided that I return back to South Africa for a couple of weeks to go and see my father and prepare things for the end. I have put my faith on water and have booked the flights to go back. I will be leaving end of June and return in July. I want to thank each and every one that has made a donation this far and this has really helped more than you can understand. There are still funds needed for expenses and traveling in South Africa. Please share this with everyone and I will post an update again before I fly out to see my father again. I will also keep you guys updated once there as well. Blessings to all.

  • Update 18/04/2023

      18 April 2023

Hi everyone. It has been a rocky and emotional road this last 7 weeks with dad being in hospital most of it but now home as the dr's are concerned that he picks up any hospital virus.

Latest results from Dr's are the following:

    Severe COPD and Emphysema

    Dementia

    Liver Failure

    Heart Failure

Lung function is reducing as well.

Just mentioning the major concerns at this stage. The rest is all controllable.

This is literally now a day-to-day exercise, and we don't know when it will turn for the worse.

Hospice is also assisting mom at home, and we have some wonderful carers (retired nurses) helping her. Unfortunately, nothing is funded in SA, and this just bears more burdens on us as a family. This update is just to keep all the wonderful people that is praying for us updated. Please share this post as much as you can.

Thank you to all that have already given.

  • Doctors have updated us

      27 March 2023

Doctors have updated us on dad's condition. We have a timeline of approximately 3 - 6 months maximum. Dad has symptoms of 1st stage dementia, slurred speech due to seizures and stroke, lungs are now busy filling up with liquid and his liver is basically starting to put more and more toxins into the body due to cirrhosis of the liver. Hoping that these updates helps. He is still in hospital as well.

  • Update 19 March 2023 - dad back in hospital

      19 March 2023

To one and all thank you for the kind donations this far. Please be kind and share to all you know.

Dad has been admitted to hospital again this morning. Mom found him with foam around the mouth and we suspect a possible seizure during the night, but the doctors are saying it is a lung infection. He only has 30 % lung capacity left, which does not help the cause.

We are waiting for updates and results. Time is something we don't know if we have much more of with him, so keep sharing this page as far as you can.

    Regards

    Ettiene
