Support Evette, Gareth and Brianna as they face Ovarian cancer. Help ease financial pressure as they create precious family memories.
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
In February 2025, at just 41 years old, Evette underwent what was expected to be a long-awaited hysterectomy after years of living with endometriosis. Following surgery, a biopsy brought the devastating news no family expects—Stage 3 ovarian cancer.
Within six weeks, Evette travelled to Auckland for major surgery to remove as much of the cancer as possible before beginning intensive chemotherapy. Through every appointment, treatment and setback, she faced it all with remarkable courage, supported by her husband Gareth and their daughter Brianna, now 8 years old.
After months of chemotherapy came the news they had been hoping for. The treatment had worked, and for the first time in a long while there was hope. Evette looked forward to returning to the Early Childhood teaching career she loves and rebuilding life with her family.
Then, on 23 April 2026, everything changed again. Doctors confirmed the cancer had returned and spread to the lining of her abdomen. Treatment is now focused on managing the cancer and giving Evette as much precious time as possible with the people she loves most.
Anyone who knows Evette knows her kindness and selflessness. Her greatest wish is simply to spend more time with Gareth and Brianna, making memories together. Your support will help ease the financial pressure, allowing the family to focus on what matters most—being together during this incredibly difficult journey and go on adventures to make life long memories.
We are close family friends who have created this page with Evette and Gareth’s knowledge to help support them through this incredibly difficult time and make memories that will last forever.
Funds will help ease everyday living pressures, allow Gareth more time away from work so the family can focus on what matters most—spending meaningful time together creating lasting memories. If future unfunded medical costs arise, the funds raised will also help with these costs and a page update will be posted once costs have been confirmed.
