International

Ezekiel Mensah grew up in a small village in West Africa called Akwidaa. The village has a population of approximately 1,500 people and is located in the Western Region of Ghana. The two primary forms of income are either fishing or farming. However, Ezekiel wished to take a different path - he dreamt of a higher education.

In 2013 Ezekiel graduated Trinity Yard School (TYS), an NGO, who then assisted him to continue his education to complete Senior High School (SHS). He graduated SHS 2016 with excellent grades allowing him for his University entrance.

In Ghana there is no government loan for University. If one wishes to study they usually need to have financial support from their family. Unfortunately, Ezekiel's family situation can not afford to pay for his education.

Currently Ezekiel is working full time at TYS as a mathematics teacher and accountant where he collects a nominal salary. He chose to work at TYS because he wishes to give back to the community where he grew up. He is valued member of the staff and a role model for the students.

In addition to working full time, Ezekiel travels 3 hours each Friday afternoon to attend Kwame Nkrumah University in Takoradi for weekend classes. He then returns Sunday evening back to TYS ready for work on Monday. And somehow he does it all with a smile!

Ezekiel has recently completed his first year of studying Business Administration and hopes one day start his own business. He has one more year of study to complete the Diploma and three to get the full Degree. At this stage he is struggling financially and is unable to pay for his tuition fees for the upcoming year (beginning in September).

With your help Ezekiel will be able to continue his studies and graduate in 2020. I have worked alongside Ezekiel as volunteer teacher for 10 months at TYS and can vouch for his diligent work ethic, trustworthy nature and generosity. I don't know a more deserving person to have the opportunity to gain an education.

Ezekiel is a colleague and friend of mine from Trinity Yard School, in Ghana. I want to help him fundraise for his University fees so he can complete his degree.

Use of funds

Funds raised will be used to pay the upcoming year (beginning in September) university fees.

Any additional money raised above the goal will be used to pay for textbooks, school excursions and travel.
