Requesting help to cover living expenses whilst recovering from double hip surgery.
Wellington
Kia ora Whanau
My name is Shakira and im in much need of some awhi, kindness. I'm currently on a waiting list for two complete hip replacements, despite my name, my hips appear to in fact lie. This has been ongoing for the last 8-9 years of constant back and forth between GPs, physios, psychologists, and pain clinics. It's only been identified as Osteoarthritis around April. This being my second attempt at being put through to the orthopaedics at Wellington Hospital.
I had a date booked for surgery on the 9th September, but due to our health system being overwhelmed and acute cases coming in, this unfortunately has now delayed until October 14th. I am unable to access acc, due to it not being from injury. I am also not eligible for disability/sickness allowance, due to being income tested on my partners income.
I'm writing this out of desperation, as I can't function or continue with my mahi as a ECE teacher. I can barely walk, get out of seating, dress myself, or manage basic self care tasks. My partner has to help with all these basic self care needs on a daily basis, which is a huge strain on our relationship & sleep and mental health. I am in constant pain and being in a profession that requires constant being on your feet, lifting, being reactive and responsive to children is compromising the health & safety of myself, as well as the Tamariki I work with. I can no longer manage, or sustain this physically, mentally, and exacerbating the pain.
Work is only prepared to cover 3 weeks out of the 6 weeks of my recovery. What I'm needing support with is to have some financial assistance with mortgage payments, to cover me over this the period, also to support me to have break until surgery.
Thank you sooooo much❤ its greatly appreciated
Fred the Cat🤣🤣🤣 you made my day seeing this... thank you sooooo much for your kindness
