Help Flick access the treatment she needs to give her the best chance of a cancer-free future
Hawke's Bay
My wife Flick is 39 and is currently fighting Stage 3 breast cancer. She has already been through two surgeries and is working her way through an intense chemotherapy regime, with radiation and ongoing hormone treatment still ahead.
Because her type of cancer carries a high risk of recurrence, the next part of her treatment includes an additional drug (abemaciclib) that her oncologist believes can help reduce that risk. Unfortunately, this medication is not fully funded in New Zealand. The treatment is planned over two years, with us needing to fund approximately $66,000 around half of the total cost.
This is a huge financial commitment for our family. After everything Flick has already been through, it is incredibly hard knowing there is another treatment available that could give her a better chance at a long life, but the cost is standing in the way.
For us, this isn't about taking chances or trying something experimental. It is about accessing an additional treatment recommended by her oncology team and knowing we have done everything we possibly can to give Flick the best chance of beating this.
We are asking for your help to make that possible.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us give Flick the best possible chance of putting cancer behind her. If you can't donate, sharing this page would mean just as much.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Flick and our family. Your messages, encouragement and generosity mean more than we can say.
I’m Flick’s husband, and I’m fundraising to help cover the cost of her cancer treatment.
Funds will go towards unfunded cancer treatment (abemaciclib)
